“Falwell Aviation: 32,000 feet closer to God.” April 13, 2007

I had no clue Falwell (ACTUALLY HIS FAMILY –HIS OWN INVOLVEMENT IS NOT YET KNOWN) had his own plane service. But, alas, Falwell Aviation is located in Lynchburg, is privately owned, has a flight school and charter’s planes to business professionals and other individuals. The business has been around for 50 years, according to the snazzy Web site, and has a private airport off Route 460.

Andrew Kantor, technology reporter at The Roanoke Times, has decided the motto for the company should be: “32,000 feet closer to God.”

Do your research!!! If you had read the company history you would have seen that two men with the last name of Falwell own the company. Not Jerry Falwell the “Man of God”. You should stop jumping to conclusions and get the facts straight. Don’t be a stupid writer…get the facts and be different from the average press person. You will then excel at the buisness of telling is right. Did it ever occur to you that there might be more than one Falwell in Lynchburg, VA ???

Thanks for your comment. I need to be careful in referencing things to Falwell himself, versus his empire and impact, which is mostly what I refer to in this blog.

I asked some fellows at Falwell Aviation if the late Rev. had any business interest in the company and they said no.

Re: The Langs

Don’t bust on the poster of this site. If -YOU- had read, you would have noticed it was Andrew Kantor, a technology reporter at The Roanoke Times that actually made the error.

Don’t act as you’ve never been mistaken.

I work at Falwell Aviation. great place really. Hope the Falwell name doesn’t scare some of you off, most people are like “oooh Falwell’s got his own jet, I see where the money goes”. Well actually THEY have 5 or 6 jets and THEY would be Calvin, Lawrence, Jimmie, and Kyle Falwell. All excellent business men that have brought this company to new heights considering our small town status. Calvin and Lawrence have been in this business for like 50 years so it’s not like Jerry Falwell started his own aviation company. He’s related to them, that’s it. This company has been providing affordable flight training in this area when no one else was and being very carefull financially. I work in the original hangar, no upgrades. If you want to truely experience aviation, fixed or rotory wing, come to Falwell Aviation. It’s a friendly enviroment and experience abounds.

Interesting, I worked for falwell a few years ago and I don’t remember any helicopters? Did they add that recently because the main things being worked on when I was there were Citations and Cessna 172’s for the Liberty Flight School.

It is also laughable that you call them all “excellent ” business men. I don’t know to much about Calvin and Lawrence but I do know about their son and grandson. Jimmie and Kyle were about as crooked as they come… Kyle also had a knack for making bad purchase decisions when it came to airplane, during my time there he bought a 152 i believe which was so full of rust that the majority of it ended up in a dumpster after inspection. They do well for the most part because of their name and more than likely the hard work of those who came before them.
